Investigating a grim trade in stolen human tissue.
By Sarah Childress, Newsweek
......Last week prosecutors charged four men, including Nicelli and the ring's supposed leader, a former Manhattan dentist named Michael Mastromarino, with running a multimillion-dollar body-snatching business that looted bones and tissue from more than a thousand corpses. The men, they say, then sold the body parts to legitimate companies that supplied hospitals around the United States. Hundreds of unsuspecting people have received the tissue, which is used in such procedures as joint and heart-valve replacements, back surgery, dental implants and skin grafts. Many are now rushing to doctors to be tested for tainted tissue. Some have already filed civil lawsuits. (One New Jersey lawyer alone has signed up some 200 CLIENTS)......

Teach Science Intelligently

Is Intelligent Design Intelligent, or is Darwinism a lot of Monkey business
By Bill Haymin
February 21, 2006
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=6097
..........“What’s different about the ID movement is it didn’t arise out of religious conviction but out of new scientific discoveries. Simply put, scientists are discovering that life is too complex and too highly ordered for the current neo-Darwin explanation. In fact, what they assert is that life on earth was DESIGNED. The ID movement shows a belief in a Creator SCIENTIFICALLY fits with the facts!” Alan Keyes..........
..........Are science teachers trying to change the RELIGIOUS beliefs of students? If Christian students learn to believe evolution, will they eventually deny their Christian faith? Dr Terry Mortensen, of Answers in Genesis, says evolution is not a science but a philosophy. In fact, evolution is a religion. Atheism depends totally upon evolution. It takes faith to believe evolution.
Kevin Snider, the Chief Counsel for The Pacific Justice Inst., says PJI is suing the Univ. Of Cal. For using tax dollars to undermine the religious beliefs of Christians. If government favors teaching only evolution, is it establishing a religion?
The state is actually supporting and promoting an atheistic philosophy that is a direct violation of the first Amendment by establishing a secular religion-atheism!..........

HEALTHY BRAIN

Preventive Maintenance For the Brain
By Alicia Ault

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/20/AR2006022001001.html

"If it seems you're forgetting more as you grow older, you are. Like most other organs in the body, the brain gets smaller as we age, leading to a decline in memory, decision-making ability and verbal skills......
Just last week a massive review of the scientific data, published online, found that getting lots of physical activity and reducing your risk of heart disease -- by cutting cholesterol and blood pressure levels, for example, or losing weight -- are among the best ways to maintain a healthy brain. The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), also found that increased mental activity throughout life appears to preserve brainpower......
Other factors may also affect brain integrity, including diet (for brain health, nutritionists suggest a diet low in saturated fats and rich in vegetables, fruit and fish with omega-3 fatty acids), social life (an active one is thought to improve immunity and reduce inflammation, believed to play a role in Alzheimer's) and health problems like diabetes and heart disease......."

HOPE FOR DIABETES CURE

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4725082.stm
Pig cells 'may reverse diabetes'

Pig body parts are already used in treating many human conditions.

Transplants of insulin-producing cells from pigs could provide
a diabetes cure within a decade, scientists say.
UK teams have cured type 1 diabetes by transplanting human
pancreas cells - but donated organs are in short supply,
hence the interest in the pig solution.
The University of Minnesota hopes to start trials in humans by 2009......

FORGIVENESS.....is nice

Today I was reminded of this great song by Leslie Phillips from 1985:

Waiting for angry words to sear my soul
Knowing I don't deserve another chance
Suddenly the kindest words
I've ever heard
Come flooding through my heart

(CHORUS)It's your kindness that leads us
To repentance Oh Lord
Knowing that You love us
No matter what we do
Makes us want to love You too
(repeat)

No excuse no one to blame
No where to hide
The eyes of God have found my failures
Found my pain He understands my weaknesses
And knows my shame

But His heart never leaves me
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(BRIDGE)
If You are for us Who can be against us
You gave us everything Even Your only Son
It's your kindness that leads us
To repentance Oh Lord
Knowing that You love us
No matter what we do
Makes us want to love You too

Accepting Christ

I heard part of a christian radio message this am.
Host said that accepting Christ can happen in 3 parts.
You see God in Creation, Your conscience tells you right from wrong, The Bible truth affirms the first two.
I think that makes sense.

CALCIUM: Need the FOOD source

My favorite Master's Degree professor, Dr. Stasch, taught me this years ago:
We can't capture everything from food and put it in a pill.
The answer is variety and moderation of food.
Ome multiple vitamin and mineral supplement per day probably is okay since there are so many toxins in our environment.
I suggest: NONFAT milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, and cream cheese; sardines; white beans; tofu; almonds; turnips; broccoli.

Extra calcium (in pills) for women takes some clinical knocks
By Gina Kolata The New York TimesFRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2006
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/02/16/news/calcium.php

......The new study, she said, shows it can hurt to take the supplements - among the women taking them there were an 5 additional cases of kidney stones per 10,000 women per year. So, Siris said, her suggestion is that doctors only urge the supplements upon women who are not getting enough calcium - 1,200 to 1,500 milligrams a day - from their diets.
"Enough is enough," Siris said. "Too much of a good thing isn't a good thing."

Eating Lean Doesn't Cut Risk
In the largest such study, a low-fat diet failed to lower rates of cancer or heart disease in women.......

The finding contradicts the claims of proponents of low-carbohydrate diets, such as the Atkins Diet, that high carbs increase the risk of diabetes. The women in the study "did not show any signs of diabetes, their triglycerides were normal, and their blood glucose was normal," said Dr. Elizabeth G. Nabel, director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which sponsored the study......
For cardiovascular disease, animal fats were known to play a role in the buildup of artery-clogging plaque, whereas the role of protective vegetable fats had not yet been recognized.Studies of women in countries with low-fat diets showed a lower incidence of breast cancer, which rose when the women migrated here and began consuming an American diet. And red meats, which have a high fat content, had been linked to colorectal cancer......

Concluded Nestle: "My advice is simple,
and these studies do not change it:
Eat less, move more, avoid junk food, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables."

I will add: avoid saturated fat and when you cook with oil use canola or olive oil; avoid sugar, have enough protein, lots of water, and less alcohol.

SONGS WITH MEANING

"HERO" by Superchic

No one sits with him, he doesn't fit in
But we feel like we do when we make fun of him
Cause you want to belong do you go along?
Cause his pain is the price paid for you to belong
It's not like we hate him or want him to die
But maybe he goes home and thinks suicide
Or he comes back to school with a gun at his side
And a kindness from you might have saved his life
Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero,
You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right
No one talks to her, she feels so alone
She's in too much pain to survive on her own
The hurt she can't handle overflows to a knife
She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life
Each day she goes on is a day that she is brave,
Fighting the lie that giving up is the way,
Each moment of courage her own life she saves
When she throws the pills out a hero is made
Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero,
You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right
No one talks to him about how he lives

He thinks that the choices he makes are just his
Doesn't know he's a leader with the way he behaves
And others will follow the choices he's made
He lives on the edge, he's old enough to decide
His brother who wants to be him is just nine
He can do what he wants because it's his right
The choices he makes change a nine year old's life

Heroes are made when you make a choice
You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero,
You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right
